“Fendi’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection blends 1920s elegance with modern flair, showcasing feminine craftsmanship, bold accessories, and family legacy.”
Fendi’s Ready-to-Wear Spring/Summer 2025 Collection at Milan Fashion Week dazzled with a powerful fusion of historical references, modernity, and femininity, all masterfully orchestrated by creative director Kim Jones. The collection was an ode to both the artisanal heritage of Fendi and the women who have shaped the house’s 100-year legacy.
Drawing inspiration from the elegance of the 1920s, Jones incorporated modern sensibility into the collection by blending delicate femininity with bold, practical designs. The collection honored Fendi's timeless craftsmanship while also introducing contemporary details that added a fresh perspective to the runway. The inclusion of intricate handiwork, such as artisanal leather trims and bold accessories, highlighted Fendi's commitment to craftsmanship while embracing a youthful, experimental edge.
The show started with luxurious pieces such as neutral-toned shearling coats, setting a warm yet sophisticated tone. White crocodile-suede ensembles, including sleek T-shirts and skirts, showcased the brand’s expertise in working with exotic materials. One of the highlights of the collection was the unexpected yet successful collaboration with Red Wing, which resulted in rugged moccasin-style boots. These boots, featuring Fendi’s signature Selleria stitching, were paired with floral socks and delicate tea dresses, adding a touch of playfulness and juxtaposing femininity with toughness.
Jones also reimagined the iconic Fendi Baguette bag, giving it a bohemian twist. The bags were presented in various styles, enhanced with fringe, oversized detailing, and an eclectic mix of pendants and trinkets. These designs pushed the boundaries of wearable art, with some bags adorned with fur bouquets and others featuring whimsical jewelry-like earbud cases.
The collection wasn't just about design; it was about storytelling. Audio snippets from conversations between Silvia Venturini Fendi and her mother, Anna, about beauty and fashion echoed through the venue, reinforcing the theme of family and legacy. This soundtrack underscored how Fendi’s history is intertwined with its future, presenting a dialogue between past, present, and future generations.
Throughout the collection, there was a play on contrasts—between rugged and refined, structured and soft. Whether in the silhouette of an oversized mesh vest cinched with Cuoio Romano leather or in the gentle drape of floral-printed dresses paired with work boots, the collection danced between different moods without ever losing its sense of coherence.
The collection featured standout accessories, with Delfina Delettrez Fendi's jewellery designs adding depth to the looks. The pieces included large, statement-making jewellery that complemented and enhanced the garments. The collection embraced maximalism, featuring chunky necklaces and oversized cuffs, creating an opulent yet modern feel. It was further enhanced by a soundtrack filled with emotional depth, featuring music by composer Max Richter. This blend of music and familial conversation deepened the narrative, adding layers of emotional resonance to the runway experience. The use of personal conversations served as a reminder of the powerful women behind the house, from its founding matriarch Adele to current leaders Silvia and Delfina.
