Stéphane Rolland’s Fall/Winter 2024-2025 Haute Couture collection, presented at the Salle Pleyel Theater, vividly captured the quintessential essence of Parisian elegance and romance. Drawing inspiration from the works of French poet Jacques Prévert and photographer Brassaï, Rolland evoked the spirit of Paris in the 1940s and 50s, an era characterized by its enigmatic and romantic charm.

The collection’s colour palette was a classic monochrome of black and white, reminiscent of timeless cinema. The show began with a dramatic entrance by the first model, who wore an arresting cut-out tuxedo jacket jumpsuit, setting an authoritative and bold tone for the collection. Following her were models clad in impeccably tailored black silhouette dresses, each piece exuding decadence, extreme femininity, glamour, and a sense of mystery. The tailored garments, defined by their strong shoulders, embodied confidence and fluidity, a tribute to the effortless Parisian glamour. Transparent fabrics and flowing designs enhanced the poetic quality of the collection, with diamond brooches and earrings adding a touch of sparkle. Sensual cut-outs and sparkling belts accentuated the graphic and feminine styles.

Among the standout pieces were a luxurious long hooded coat crafted from black velvet and satine and a sophisticated long trapeze skirt in black wool crepe, intricately embroidered with crystals. Rolland’s adept use of materials like wool crepe, velvet, gazar, tulle, and satin showcased his exceptional craftsmanship and underscored the timeless allure of Paris.

The grand finale was nothing short of spectacular. The bride made a dramatic entrance in an extraordinary ensemble: a magnificent “alcove” hood adorned with delicate porcelain and white organza petals, complemented by a skirt with a flowing white train.

The show’s ambience was further elevated by swirling smoke, enchanting lighting, captivating movement, and magical music, creating an unforgettable experience that perfectly encapsulated the timeless beauty and romance of Paris.
