Amidst the swirling sea of people, a solitary worker strides with unwavering determination, navigating the evening rush or the darkest hours of the night, sometimes even braving the relentless rain. Each pocket carries the simple necessities of daily life, unchanged from yesterday and prepared for tomorrow. The once-crisp shirt, now worn and rumpled, with sleeves rolled up and tie loosened, speaks of a long, arduous day. Their body cries out in fatigue, and their heart yearns for the sanctuary of home and the promise of rest. Yet, despite the exhaustion, they march forward, propelled by an inner strength and a sliver of happiness that helps them overcome the day’s contradictions. In this dignified routine, they leave behind yesterday’s weariness and step into the new day with renewed resolve.

Shinpei Yamagishi’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection draws profound inspiration from this universal longing for rest and escape from the daily grind. For Yamagishi, who channels his subjective reality into his designs, the essence of the worker’s daily life—marked by sweat, perseverance, and presence—served as the cornerstone of his creative process. He envisioned workers, whether office employees, construction labourers, or household caretakers, returning home after a long day, bearing small tokens of love and joy for their families. These ordinary acts of buying flowers, a bottle of wine, or a child’s favourite candy become the epitome of life’s understated yet profound happiness.

The collection’s ambience is deeply rooted in the brand’s signature style while capturing the essence of the worker’s attire. Shrunken sleeves fastened with straps, natural hems that flow effortlessly, and supple shirts blend chic austerity with unpretentious charm. Yamagishi’s playful yet poignant designs metaphorically represent the workers’ state of mind. The gentle chime of bells signalling the end of the workday, elliptical textiles that evoke intuition, and heavy-buckled belts add depth to the collection. Three-dimensional motifs express the human soul’s longing for rest, while leather tool bags and well-worn shoes symbolize the worker’s nonchalant resilience.

This collection is Yamagishi’s heartfelt tribute to all working people, a celebration of lives where miracles may not occur, but beauty thrives daily. He perceives life as a theatre created by these unsung heroes and expresses his desire to be part of this cast. In every stitch and detail, Yamagishi honours the dignity, fatigue, and subtle joys of those who keep moving forward, day after day. The Spring/Summer 2025 collection stands as a testament to the quiet strength and unspoken beauty found in the relentless march of the worker, transforming ordinary moments into extraordinary reflections of life’s true essence.
