STÉPHANE ROLLAND
Women's Spring-Summer 2023 Haute Couture Collection
BY SUNA MOYA - 7 FEBRUARY 2023
French couturier Stéphane Rolland pays homage to Brazil in his Spring-Summer 2023 Haute Couture Collection. Entitled "Saudade Meu Amor", the show was held at the Théâtre National de Chaillot.
A short film featuring children playing was shown on the stage screen. Familiar musical sounds from the guitar instrumental can be heard as they dance together with a stunning sunrise emerging over the Guanabara Bay of Rio de Janeiro. It captured the attention of those watching and made them feel the atmosphere and the mood of the vibrant people of Brazil. The scenes were inspired by the 1959 Marcel Camus film - Orfeu Negro (Black Orpheus).
WELCOME TO THE UNIVERSE OF STÉPHANE ROLLAND
The runway opened with architectural silhouettes in pure white, accessorised with crystal embellishments. The looks were elegant, sensual and very feminine with capes and regal trains that cascaded to the floor in soft movements.
Stéphane Rolland is known for his sculptural looks often inspired by nature. And for this occasion, his inspiration was drawn from the Amazonian forest.
The collection included bold tribal-oriented gowns with black-and-white colour contrasts that featured dramatic silhouettes and brilliant use of design techniques.
The final passage of the show was spectacular and breathtakingly beautiful. A living icon like a sacred vision, she was 'Madonna', in an incredible sculptured and embroidered gold metallic gown worn with large tribal bracelets. The excerpt was dramatic, unforgettable and almost surreal!
