THE 28TH PRIX PICTO FOR FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY
The 28th Prix PICTO for Fashion Photography unfolded as a powerful encounter between image, history and imagination. In 2026, the PICTO Foundation reached a rare convergence: the tenth anniversary of its creation, the 75th anniversary of the House of PICTO, and the bicentenary of photography itself. Three milestones, one city, one shared pulse. Paris became a living frame where time, memory and vision intersected.
At the Palais Galliera, the evening began with a refined sense of anticipation. Before the official proceedings commenced, guests had the opportunity to discover Tisser, broder, sublimer. Les savoir-faire de la mode, an exhibition celebrating the art of ornamentation through floral motifs and the exceptional craftsmanship of fashion artisans throughout history. The exhibition offered a fitting prelude to an evening dedicated to image-making and creative excellence.
Attention then shifted to the heart of the event: the Prix PICTO itself. As the evening unfolded, focus turned towards the shortlisted photographic portfolios, each revealing a distinct creative universe shaped by personal vision and artistic intent. Around the works, conversations emerged, perspectives converged, and a collective anticipation steadily built towards the announcement of this year’s winners.
The Prix PICTO continues to assert its quiet yet decisive influence on contemporary fashion photography. Today, the Prix PICTO for Fashion Photography stands as one of Paris’s most significant platforms for emerging visual storytellers—an award that does not merely celebrate images, but reveals futures.
Around the tables displaying the portfolios, photography professionals and emerging talents gathered in close proximity. Photographers, editors, stylists, buyers, designers and aspiring image-makers observed each body of work with trained and attentive eyes. Beyond the presentation tables, images extended throughout the venue, transforming the space into a continuous visual landscape where discovery unfolded at every turn.
Each year, the competition opens an international call for submissions, inviting young photographers to present cohesive photographic series rather than individual images. From these entries, a distinguished jury drawn from photography, fashion and the arts selects finalists whose work demonstrates a strong visual language, a singular voice and a contemporary understanding of fashion imagery. The focus remains clear: supporting emerging talents under the age of thirty-five who build narratives through complete series rather than isolated moments.
More than an award, the Prix PICTO functions as a launchpad. Its various distinctions create meaningful pathways into the creative industry, offering mentorship, production opportunities, collaborations and institutional recognition. The Grand Prix PICTO, the highest distinction, includes a Leica camera, an exhibition produced by PICTO, and permanent inclusion within the collections of the Palais Galliera, ensuring that emerging voices become part of the cultural record.
This year’s edition attracted more than 140 submissions from around the world. From this dynamic field, nineteen finalists were selected by a committee bringing together the PICTO Foundation, JANVIER, the Palais Galliera and Demi Studio. Together, they represent a generation redefining fashion photography from within—moving fluidly between still and moving image, documentary and fiction, intimacy and conceptual exploration, while reshaping the visual language of contemporary fashion.
President of the Jury,
28th Prix PICTO for Fashion Photography 2026
Under the presidency of Valérie Belin, the 2026 jury, which included Paolo Roversi, Priscilla Royer and representatives from Leica, Magnum Photos, the PICTO Foundation and JANVIER, once again affirmed its commitment to supporting and nurturing emerging creative talent.
The awards were then announced. Marie Blampain received the Grand Prix PICTO de la Photographie de Mode. Cassandre Lafon was awarded the le19M de la Photographie des Métiers d’Art Endowment. Jérémie Monnier received the Paolo Roversi / Filippo Roversi Endowment, while Ode was presented with the LGA Management / JANVIER Award.
Throughout the evening, one certainty remained: photography is in a constant state of renewal. In every image, every conversation and every emerging voice, the future of the medium quietly took shape.
The celebration concluded with a cocktail reception, where guests, artists, jury members and industry figures gathered in a spirit of conviviality and exchange, bringing the evening to a close while celebrating another remarkable edition of the Prix PICTO.
