The Chanel Autumn-Winter 2022/2023 Ready-To-Wear Collection was revealed at the Grand Palais Éphémère and is "entirely devoted to tweed and nature's colours".
Tweed originated from the River Tweed on the border between England and Scotland and is derived from the Scottish word for 'Twill' - an interwoven textured fabric. This fabric is characterised by its comfort, softness and wearability. The tweed has evolved over the years and has become a classic Chanel symbol.
Creative Director, Virginie Viard, added more colour and modernity to the classics, which is what makes this ready-to-wear collection stand out. The colours of the Scottish countryside representing wildflowers, rivers, trees and mists are used on the tweed, while rubber rain boots and knitted leggings deliver a country life aesthetic. The tweed coat is casually half-draped over one side and over a delicate wool-knitted jumper with a wonderful overlay and a variety of colours that create a sense of vibrancy, just like all the beauty nature has to offer.
Silvery silk threads on the collection's black tweed suit resemble the ripples of water under the night sky and are paired with knitted leggings and black pointed-toe heels for a sophisticated, elegant and vintage look.
The black and gold classic flap leather bag with metal zip decorated with a heart-shaped adds a touch of playfulness to its elegance while the patented Chanel black leather flap bag, with its stunning gold medallion logo, can be carried by hand or on the shoulder. Others are tweed bags with leather and metal chain for a more casual look.
The Scottish countryside lifestyle has always inspired Gabrielle Chanel's creations. Today, Creative Director Virginie Viard makes the classics chicer and maximises their integration into everyday life.
