ANREALAGE SS26 “♡” – WHERE COUTURE COMES ALIVE
“Anrealage SS26 “♡”:
Kinetic couture breathes
life—twitching hems, HERALBONY
prints pulse with neurodiverse
art. Heartbeats in fabric,
tech-tender luxury.”
In the hushed intimacy of a minimalist Paris Fashion Week space on 30 September 2025, Kunihiko Morinaga unveiled a transformative vision. Anrealage's Spring/Summer 2026 collection, “♡”, breathed life into fashion, with fabrics pulsing independently on the runway. Models paused in frozen poses, hems trembling like faint heartbeats, capes rising and falling in rhythmic breath. This was couture as a living organism — a meditation on human rhythms in our digitally isolated age.
Morinaga, master of optical illusions—from photochromic fabrics blooming under UV light to evaporating water prints—now animates clothing fully. “We tried to give life into the clothing, like the clothes are a creature, moving and breathing,” he said post-show, his voice soft amid clinking glasses. “Like awakening creatures, they stir and inhale, mirroring our vulnerabilities.” The heartbeat motif anchors it: evoking love's pulse, resilience in decay, and our filtered perceptions in an algorithmic world. Under dim lights, models froze mid-stride as hidden wires quivered edges, volumes swelled like chests, and expansive motifs rippled across bodies, questioning: In perfect simulations, what animates true presence?
This vitality shines brightest in a bold partnership with HERALBONY, the Japanese-French initiative empowering neurodivergent artists. Founded by Takaya and Fumito Matsuda—inspired by their brother Shōta with severe autism—it—honored with a 2024 LVMH Innovation Award (Diversity & Inclusion category) and 2025 Cannes Lions Gold—transforms raw talent into art, channeling royalties to over 250 creators with intellectual disabilities. This organization exemplifies inclusive creativity, turning personal stories of disability into global impact through ethical art commercialization.
For “♡”, Morinaga selected works from 18 artists, printed via KYOCERA's eco-gentle FOREARTH process on silks, cottons, and nylons. The results: vivid prints bursting with honesty—Midori Kudo's hypnotic pointillism; Momoko Nakagawa's joyful concentric circles; Shigaku Mizukami's serene fans and dots; Ryo Nakao's bold typographic labyrinths; Takuma Hayakawa's chaotic train-and-idol swirls, celebrating urban solitude and dreams.
The "looks" on the runway unfolded as a white-dominated dreamscape, accented in cerulean, magenta, amber, and abstract flourishes. A sapphire chiffon cape-dress billowed with frills echoing Nakagawa's orbs, capturing light like floating bubbles over corseted waists and striped pants for nomadic grace. A fringed organdy midi, wired subtly, undulated solo over a simple slip—elegant ode to quiet motion.
Drama peaked in emotive bursts: a body-hugging sheath exploding into a heart-shaped hem with throbbing lines like veins. A veiled organdy mantilla crowned a blazer printed with Mizukami's pleats, hems fluttering to reveal depths. Hayakawa's track-inspired coats, cinched for sculpture, featured pulsing collars; Nakagawa's pink-blue dress-and-skirt evoked carefree spins in dotted fields. Kudo's dotted robe, gathered at hips, mimicked breath—inhale, expand; exhale, contract. Climax: a layered geometric silhouette, billowing thoughtfully in the collection's pulse.
Anrealage's whimsical innovation endures in surreal accessories. Fox-shaped bags, co-designed with Yukai Engineering (makers of the therapeutic Qoobo pet), feature tails that wag on touch, offering tactile comfort in a sensory-starved world—though runway demos proved as fickle as cats, amplifying the whimsy.
As the final silhouette dissolved into the space's soft glow, Anrealage's “♡” lingered not as mere fabric and form, but as a tender manifesto for reconnection—in a world of ceaseless scrolls, it urges us to feel the quiet thrum of our own pulses, to honor the unfiltered artistry of minds that see beyond the screen. Morinaga's alchemy reminds us that true luxury lies in animation: the shared breath between creator and canvas, vulnerability and vitality intertwined. In this heartbeat of couture, fashion doesn't just clothe the body; it revives the soul, one resonant ripple at a time.
